Dorset, England Following a fall whilst cycling to Burley on the Mince Pie Ride last Tuesday, Jim was taken to Southampton Hospital with a hip-joint fracture and was operated on the following day. I am very sorry to say that he passed away last night in the hospital, with Janet by his side.
A very apt response from one of our members: “He will be sorely missed, especially by our longstanding older members. Lovely man, outspoken and brusque at times, but a real kindly and caring gentleman who had a wonderful sense of humour. Passionate about cycling and the Christchurch Bicycle Club, adoring husband and family man. Beloved by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Thank you Jim for touching our lives.”
Our thoughts and prayers are with Janet and the family.
Many thanks to those who stayed with him following the fall, caring for him and directing traffic, until the ambulance came.
