Due to the current club kit supplier no longer being in business, it has been proposed that we use a new supplier and update the kit design in the process. We now have a member, Seth Bishop, who has managed the design and supply of kits for various organisations, and has connections to the trade. He has volunteered to help in the process and has consulted with club members during the CBC Picnic event and via a poll. As a result, he came up with three potential designs. Initially we asked the Committee and those who said they would be moderately/very likely to buy new kit, for their preferred options. Click here for details on the options.
The result of this poll was to discount Option 1; Options 2 and 3 had very similar scores. A final survey was then created for all members to vote for their preferred design out of these two options. Option 3 has been chosen (39 votes to 27).
Various comments have been received on these designs, including the following relevant to Option 3, which will be taken into consideration for the final design:
- Like to see more bright yellow / Yellow flash centre of pockets please
- Can 4th colour be Fluorescent Yellow instead of green to better match with hi viz jackets?
- Various comments on visibility being paramount
- Note that colours don’t comply with club rules [see FAQ below]
- Christchurch too big on the reverse / Smaller writing of the club name
- High neck for the jerseys please

FAQ
Seth Bishop, the co-ordinator for this project, has provided the following clarifications to some questions which have been raised:
Although silver is one of the four club colours (club rule 24 “The Club’s colours shall be Silver, Sky Blue, Royal Blue and Navy Blue in combination”), it cannot be represented in a flat colour, i.e. it comes out as grey. Furthermore the alternative silver reflective strip is expensive and not available from most vendors for jerseys and shorts. It also doesn’t enhance visibility in daylight. Since safety was the biggest single piece of feedback from members, a fluorescent neon colour was added, alongside the other official club colours as described in rule 24. Following further feedback, the neon colour has been changed from Lime Green to 13-0630 Safety Yellow.
The manufacturer chosen for this project is Velotec and they provide a custom service for clubs.
The kit is all made in Italy using pro level materials. Velotec makes for some pro teams.
It is in my opinion superior to Santini but not quite high end like Castelli (or as expensive).
It is higher performing than the price would suggest as we aren’t paying for brand marketing.
We intend to opt for a cut that is a popular club fit. It is close fitting, as it should be, but not super tight race fit.
Kit uses high quality technical fabrics with flat, silicon grip cuffs on sleeves, waist and legs.
The seat pads are very good. I have ridden 6 consecutive days in the Alps in Velotec full kit with excellent comfort.
The minimum order quantities we need to reach as a club are just 11 garments per type. This can be across multiple different sizes.
The club does not need to purchase any stock or hold inventory.
Velotec will open a unique online club shop where individual members can order and pay for their kit.
As a guide, I anticipate a short sleeve jersey being around £56 and bib shorts around £60.
It is important that members look at the size guide and take their own measurements. The kit is accurate to the size guide so take accurate measurements to get the right size.
I can also get some trial fit garments from Velotec if we want to arrange a fitting event.
