CBC Data Protection Policy

Christchurch Bicycle Club (CBC) is established with the objects set out in its constitution, and is a data controller within the UK.

The personal information referred to in this Policy may include name, contact details, service records, records of entries to events, and such other information as may be necessary for the effective management of the legitimate interests of CBC. Any person wishing to verify the information held by the CBC may apply to the Secretary.

CBC collects and holds personal information about:

  1. The members of the club.
    This information is used to facilitate administration and services. The information is compiled into a spreadsheet. Club Members’ email addresses may be in committee member’s address books for club purposes.
  2. Others necessary for the conduct of the business of CBC.
    This information is used to contact other cycling groups or associated bodies for the club.

CBC may retain historical archives for example but not limited to, records of meetings, handbooks, catalogues, awards and other event results.

By joining the club, you have given consent for the club to hold and use the information you have provided for administrative purposes only. 

We are a membership organisation and require access to your contact details to inform you of club events. Should you wish to unsubscribe you can do that by informing: admin@christchurchbicycleclub.org. You will remain a member of the club but not receive any communication once unsubscribed, other than that pertaining to membership such as the AGM and subscription renewal.

Embedded content from other websites

Pages or Posts on the CBC website may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.) or links to other websites. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. When you click a link and visit an external website, those sites have their own privacy policies.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Comments

If we allow visitors to leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service Privacy Policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Cookies

Our web hosting provider collects some anonymous analytical data in its log files, these include your IP address, web page (URL) visited, referring web page (where you came to the site from), the date and time you visited, and your browser.  Visitors cannot opt out of this tracking.

We use Google Analytics to collect non-personal information. This information is collected to ascertain website usage statistics, and to help our web developer fix errors or broken links on our site. You can opt out of these cookies when you visit the site.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Any person wishing to verify the information held by the CBC may apply to the Secretary, secretary@christchurchbicycleclub.org.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
