Advice on Children, Young People and Vulnerable Adults attending Club’s rides or events.
This document has been prepared on advice from the British Cycling Safe Guarding Policy which is endorsed by Cycling U.K Safeguarding policy.
The intention of this document is to provide a safe environment for the vulnerable individual.
In this document, the definition of Authorised Person for Vulnerable people is parent, guardian or carer.
Persons classed as vulnerable persons under the U.K law or under the age of 18 can only be registered by their parents, guardians or carer under Family Membership. They cannot be a member in the own right until the age of 18, as the club does not have events or rides for vulnerable people.
Vulnerable persons are welcome on club rides or events only if accompanied by at least by one parent, guardian or carer.
The parent, guardian or carer must accompany, and are fully responsible for, vulnerable persons at all times. The parent, guardian or carer are welcome to contact the ride leader or event organizer if they have any concerns, such as length, toilets etc. If needed, the club will consider making reasonable adjustments to the ride or event.
In case of emergency, the parent to guardian must have the means to contact another authorised person, since vulnerable people must not be left alone without an authorised person present under any circumstances.
No photography is allowed of vulnerable people unless permission is given by their parent/carer.
All communication to vulnerable people is done either with the authorised person present or to the authorised person’s email address.
Any complaints concerning discrimination and/or vulnerable persons that can’t be resolved locally with the ride leader or Rides Coordinator should be addressed to the CBC Chairman and Club Secretary
